OVERVIEW

Queensland is at the forefront of scientific innovation.

Every day, our internationally-renowned leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are applying their expertise to ensure economic prosperity and sustainability and enhance community wellbeing.

Despite this progress, men continue to outnumber women in STEM industries.

The 2021 Queensland Women in STEM Prize recognises the valuable contribution of Queensland women working in STEM careers.

You could win one of three cash awards to be used for professional development:

  • Judges' Award awarded to the most meritorious applicant
  • Inclusion Award awarded to the most meritorious Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicant, applicant with a disability, or applicant who is a carer.
  • Highly Commended Award(s) considered to be a meritorious applicant, as determined by the judges.

This state-wide competition is open to early to mid-career women working in STEM careers in Queensland.

Previous winners are feeding the world through sustainable livestock production; establishing new manufacturing industries and advancing medical science through drug discovery and improved understanding of immune responses.

To enter, applicants are required to provide a written application and a two minute video. Application will close on the 16 April 2021, at 4:00 PM (AEST). After this time, entries will be made available to the public.

The 2021 Queensland Women in STEM Prize is presented by Queensland Museum Network and the Queensland Government.
